Walking in on a bright Sunday’s afternoon, we were immediately seated by the window where the sunlight spills in to illuminate a minimalist’s dream come true – simple, clean designs featuring wooden and metallic furniture juxtaposed against each other.
With modern furnishings and contemporary details, Maru brings modern conceptual designs from its interior to its plate.
This isn’t my first time here, so I knew for sure that I wouldn’t be disappointed. Made-to-order specialty and signature rolls are best sellers here and they are absolutely some of the best ones I have had in Grand Rapids. My taste buds don’t lie.
Hands down my favorite sushi restaurant in Grand Rapids. There are a variety of options to choose from, and today, I chose the Nirvana ($10.50 with discount) – featuring “tempura fried smoked salmon, crab, avocado, cream cheese with eel sauce, honey wasabi aioli, masago and scallions”.
It’s a mouthful, but definitely a tasty mouthful. I guarantee it wouldn’t disappoint – unless you don’t like sushi, in which case, you came to the wrong blog.
The ingredients are fresh, the flavors are abundant, and the price is really reasonable as well (especially if you frequent them during their happy hours, when they offer 25% discount).
If you love sushi, and like me, are picky about it, I would highly recommend Maru.
